Research trip to Portugal

In June 2009, the Mustela Foundation organised a research trip to Lisbon in Portugal. Fifteen or so French early childhood professionals thus had the chance to discover the maternity, paediatric and neonatology units at the Alfredo da Costa maternity hospital (public) and the Hospital da Luz (private), as well as the maternity unit at the Nossa Senhora do Rosário hospital in Barreiro (baby-friendly public hospital). Moreover, these professionals were shown around the Ajuda Health Centre and the Directorate-General for Health Care, where two administrative managers gave them a detailed account of the Portuguese health care system.
Read the accounts of the two following professionals who went on this trip:
- Catherine Devoldère, paediatrician, head of the Paediatric-Neonatology unit at Abbeville hospital in the territorial department of the Somme
- Martine Chauvière, midwife, senior health care executive for the Gynaecology-Obstetrics unit at the René Pleven hospital in Dinan
